I wrote this a few years ago and it has been modified several times since then; and I forgot to post it earlier this week. While any "LM" tune can be used, our musicians this week will be using "On Jordan's Bank" (Puer Nobis). The first verse is terrible, and has been stricken. I also have another one that is stronger "anti-catholic/mary-bashing" because it calls Mary a sinner ("my spirit rejoices in God WHO IS my Savior...") (as opposed to this version which says He for MY sins shall be out-poured) but I can't find it now and I have to move on to other things In His Service, Pastor Michael Harman http://pages.zdnet.com/pastorharman/tlc_anthon/ Magnificat (Before his birth, St. John, he leaped) (As Mary did Eliz`beth greet) (So Mary sang of God's great grace) (Which came to all the human race: ) My soul now magnifies the Lord My spirit wi-ll in God rejoice He for my sins shall be out-poured, He raised me up by gracious choice. All generations call me blest, But He did migh-ty things through me, I gladly serve at His request His name is wholly Ho-ly! His mercy is on those who fear, Who trust in Hi-m from age to age His arm of strength to all is near, The proud He scatters in their rage. He casts the mighty from their reign And raises tho-se of poverty To hungry souls He gives His grain The rich depart in scarcity. He helped His servant, Israel; Recalling gra-ce and mer-cy, As from of old He did foretell To Abraham's race eternally.
